Tim Redding signs with the White Sox

Former Monroe Community College pitcher Tim Redding signed a minor league contract with the world champion Chicago White Sox.  Redding will go to training camp as a Non-Roster Invitee with a chance to earn a spot on the 25-man rotation.

Redding started the 2005 season with the San Diego Padres before joining the New York Yankees.  He started one game for the Yankees and spent the remainder of the year with New York’s Triple-A affiliate in Columbus.

Redding has a career 21-34 record in the Major Leagues, including a career-best 10 victories in 2003 with the Houston Astros.  He was a third-team NJCAA All-American during his sophomore year at MCC and led the nation with an ERA of 1.02.
