Radio, TV Cover 9/11 Ceremony

MCC’s September 11 Remembrance Ceremony received media coverage from four news stations and WHAM 1180 radio. Scott Blue II, a student government leader, and Peggy Harvey-Lee were among those interviewed.

The ceremony also brought dozens of people to the Brighton Campus to pay tribute to 9/11 victims and first responders.

Keynote speaker President Emeritus Tom Flynn, who was president of MCC when the terrorist attacks happened in 2001, shared his personal experiences of that fateful day and highlighted the efforts of students who were the driving force behind the erection of the September 11th Remembrance Walk.

Speakers at the ceremony also included President Kress, Scott Blue II, and Mark Maddalina, who designed the memorial. Gates Keystone Club Police Pipes & Drums provided music; and MaryJane Starr (Office of Student Life and Leadership Development) sang the national anthem. Allison McCarthy, CAB director, presented the wreath.
