Passing of Retiree Kathleen Siekierski

I am saddened to share the news of the passing of Kathleen Siekierski, a retired senior technical assistant and an MCC alumna, on March 20 at age 86.

Ms. Siekierski began her MCC career as a technical assistant in the psychology department after graduating with distinction in 1984. Five years later, she was promoted to the rank of senior technical assistant. She was involved with the Psychology Learning Center since it opened in 1985. For 23 years, her colleagues said at her retirement celebration, she was the heart and soul of the learning center as she managed its day-to-day operations.

She was an active member of the local community, and her service to the college included assuming officer roles in the Faculty Association/Faculty Council. She retired from MCC in 2008.

She was predeceased by her husband, John; sons, Stephen G. and Christopher J.; daughter, Debra Woodhull; brothers, Gerard, Wayne and Bruce Stephany; and sister, Gloria Schultz. She is survived by her children Jacquelyn Brown, Karen (Thomas) Blankenburg, Michael (Jolyne) Siekierski, and Suzanne (Tim) Walton; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A
memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today, March 25, at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, 3325 S. Winton Road, Rochester, NY 14623. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to WXXI or the charity of your choice.
