MCC Alumni, Faculty Participate in StoryCorps Interviews

On July 20 and 24 members of the MCC family – including alumni, administrators, faculty and MCC Foundation supporters – participated in StoryCorps interviews in downtown Rochester. Established in 2003, StoryCorps  (https://www.storycorps.net) is “the largest oral history project of its kind, creating a growing portrait of who we are as a nation.” Tens of thousands of everyday people have shared their life stories through StoryCorps. The interviews/stories are broadcast weekly on National Public Radio’s Morning Edition.

Thanks to the following who participated in the interviews:

* Executive Dean Pete Otero (Damon City Campus), Christopher Otero-Piersante (English/Philosophy) and Christopher’s sons Jeremiah and Noah (pictured below)

* MCC alumni Jessica Brown and Daniel O’Hanlon

* MCC Foundation Council member Simon Braitman and his wife Josephine. The Braitmans also serve on the Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project Advisory Board.

The interviews may be heard on WXXI-Radio in the future. The recordings will be housed at the National Archives in Washington, D.C. Because the Brown-O’Hanlon interview focused on the building of MCC’s September 11th Remembrance Walk, a copy of the recording will also be sent to a special archive in Manhattan.
