Pete Otero Named Rochester's 2011 Hispanic Business Person of the Year

Please join me in congratulating Emeterio “Pete” Otero, executive dean of the Damon City Campus, on being named the Rochester Hispanic Business Person of the Year by the Rochester Hispanic Business Association (RHBA), an affiliate of the Rochester Business Alliance.

MCC Trustee Grace Tillinghast, chairwoman of the RHBA, announced the honor yesterday.

“Dr. Otero has enhanced the Hispanic community in many ways and he is a superb role model,” said Trustee Tillinghast said. “He is involved with the Rochester Downtown Development Corporation, the United Way of Greater Rochester, the YMCA of Greater Rochester, Action for Better Community, Rochester Rotary Club, and several other organizations.”

Of course, the MCC family is well aware of Pete’s passionate advocacy for students and urban education. His contributions over 29 years at MCC have touched thousands of students.

Pete will be honored at RHBA’s annual Business Person of the Year Luncheon and Expo, set for Sept. 29 at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.
