There is still time to donate to the Pencils and Paper: Tools for Learning Supply Drive

Through May 11th you can find donation boxes in several locations across MCC to collect your school supplies. The MCC Support Staff Planning Council (SSPC) and the MCC Chapter of the American Association of Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) are collaborating to help teachers in our community. This Jewish Family Services program allows teachers in low-income schools to shop for school supplies for their students at no cost at their store and warehouse located at Water Tower Park on Jay Street.

Teachers that have been touched by this program share:

"If I am lucky and there is money left over in the school budget I get $50 to spend each year to purchase supplies to use with all of these students. As you can guess this does not even come close to covering what I need."

"I brought the supplies to school the day after going to Pencils and Paper. I laid many of the materials out for the students to see. They were beyond excited and so surprised that people would be so kind as to give us supplies to help in their learning venture."

Please join your colleagues in helping to strengthen our community by supplying basic learning tools to local children who need school supplies but can't afford them.

The supplies teachers ask for the most includes, but is not limited to:

  • Construction paper (50 sheet assorted)
  • Copy paper (ream)
  • Crayons (24-pack)
  • #2 pencils and pens
  • Hand sanitizer (8 oz.)
  • Markers and dry erase markers
  • Glue squeeze bottles (8 oz.)
  • Paper clips and binder clips
  • Band Aid boxes (100 count)
  • Backpacks

Please find attached a flyer for information on drop-off locations and posting in your office area.

We appreciate your support of this important mission.
