Melany Silas Helps Celebrate Impact of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Alumnae on Community

The October 8 Democrat and Chronicle article, Roc Alumnae Chapter of Deltas: 50 years of Service, written by James Goodman, focuses on the chapter’s commitment to community service and helping prepare young women for college. Associate Professor Melany J. Silas (Health and Physical Education) serves as president of the Rochester Alumnae Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Her quote highlights how the chapter partners with the Mayor's Office to help promote education within the community.

In addition to educational development, chapter members have focused initiatives for economic development, international awareness and involvement, political awareness and involvement and physical and mental health.
