French to Review "Ike's Final Battle"

Henry (Pete) French, professor emeritus, will be reviewing "Ike's Final Battle: The Road to Little Rock and the Challenge of Equality", by Kasey Pipes, on Tuesday, October 9th from 12:12 to 12:52 in the Gleason Auditorium of the Bausch and Lomb Public Library Building at 115 South Avenue.

While in the Army, Pete served in Korea during Eisenhower's presidency in the 1950s. "Eisenhower had successfully integrated the military services during World War II," says French. "Little Rock was Ike's biggest challenge when he had to send in the 101st Airborne troops to protect the nine African-American students as they went to school by court order on September 25, 1957."
