International Education Week at MCC

International Education Week (IEW) takes place every November on college campuses across the country. The goal of IEW is to promote global understanding and support international educational exchange though programs that prepare Americans to live and work in a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study in the United States.

MCC demonstrates its commitment to international education through the ongoing efforts of the Global Education and International Services department (GEIS) to internationalize both the College's curriculum and culture. A significant part of this mission is realized through our IEW program, which has been developed through partnerships between GEIS and its Advisory Council, members of the MCC faculty and administration, and community leaders.

Please see the attached IEW programs for a list of events taking place at the Brighton and Downtown campuses throughout the week.

As citizens in a global society, it is essential that we develop critical understanding of the world beyond our national borders. Thus we encourage all members of the MCC community to take part in IEW.

The Brighton kickoff for this year's program will take place today at noon in the Atrium of the R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center--and feature the keynote address by Dr. Muhammad Shafiq, Executive Director of the Hickey Center for Interfaith Studies and Dialogue at Nazareth College. Dr. Shafiq will deliver the Downtown Campus keynote address on Wednesday, November 15th, at noon in the Second Floor Student Lounge. Dr. Shafiq's address, "Globalization, Diversity, and Dialogue," will highlight the theme of this year's IEW at MCC, "World Religions and Faith Practices," as well as the grand opening of the Brighton Campus Interfaith Prayer and Contemplation Room.
