9th annual Walk for Water for South Sudan: Donations accepted online

The Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project will host its 9th annual Walk for Water to support Water for South Sudan on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 10 am starting in Lot G on MCC’s Brighton Campus. Registration opens at 9:30 am. Monies raised will help Water for South Sudan provide clean drinking water to and improve the lives of South Sudanese villagers, especially women and children who walk miles for water every day.

In lieu of a registration fee,
please donate online. Prizes will be awarded to top student fundraisers. Local middle school and high school students are also encouraged to compete for an opportunity to meet with Salva Dut and Linda Sue Park at the Children’s Book Festival on November 12 at MCC. Please see the attached flier for more information and help us spread the word!

Water for South Sudan was founded by Salva Dut, an MCC Alumni Hall of Fame member who graduated from MCC in 2000 and lives in South Sudan. The organization has built 282 borehole wells to date, enabling hundreds of thousands of South Sudanese villagers to thrive, establish schools and develop centers of commerce. Since 2006, MCC students and community supporters have raised more than $60,000 for Water for South Sudan. It costs $15,000 to drill and build a new well in the world’s newest country.

Established in 1990, the Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project is MCC's unique organization for telling the stories of the Holocaust and other genocides while transforming individuals to become advocates for human rights.
