Celebrate Alumni Week and Homecoming 2016!


MCC faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends are invited to participate in MCC’s Alumni Week and Homecoming 2016 celebration hosted by the MCC Foundation. Participating in Homecoming is a great way to show your pride in MCC! Damon City Campus Celebration, Mon., Oct. 3
Join the Office of Campus Life and SEGA for an hour-long celebration complete with cake, music and more as we kick off Alumni Week and Homecoming at 12 noon, DCC 4th Floor Lounge. 

Homecoming Fall Festival, Wed., Oct. 5
Brought to you by the Campus Activities Board, the Fall Festival is our annual celebration of the fall semester. It’s completely free for MCC Students and will feature music, food trucks and Knockerball® at the Brighton Campus from 11 am to 3 pm in parking lot F.

Spirit Day Faculty vs. Students Basketball Game/Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Fri., Oct. 7
Wear black and gold and cheer on your favorite faculty members and our students as they go head to head in a basketball game on Monagan Court at noon. Come and cheer for your favorite player!  Music provided by WMCC The Pulse.

In the evening, attend the MCC Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and join the MCC family in applauding the success of this year’s inductees:  Lindsey (Grace) Frohnapple ’09 (Softball), Kristine Olijnyk ’09 (Women’s Lacrosse), Mike Chamberlain ’76 (Baseball) and Cihan Nuhoglu ‘’05 (Men’s Soccer).  For tickets and information, call the MCC Athletics Department at 585-292-2830.

Homecoming Day 5K/Tailgate Party/Tribunes Soccer/Artist Lecture, Sat., Oct. 8
MCC’s employees are leading the way by forming teams and seeking sponsorships.  A total of $5,000 in MCC scholarships will be awarded to current MCC student participants at the conclusion of the race. Check-in and registration opens at 9:30 am, the walk/run starts at 11 am and the one-mile fun run starts at 11:10 am.  Come early for Zumba warm up, rock-climbing wall, photo booth, health fair, face painting, children’s activities and more.  Early registration fee (by Oct. 2) is $18, walk-in registration fee is $23, MCC student registration fee is $10.  Teams must be formed and team members registered by Oct. 2.

Following the 5K, enjoy a delicious Tailgate hot buffet lunch, sponsored by Sodexo and the MCC Association, in the gymnasium (tickets are $8).  Cheer on the MCC Tribunes as they face rivals in women’s and men’s soccer at 12 and 2:30 pm.  Take in the alumni art exhibit in the Mercer Gallery. The art features creative work by MCC alumni Carmelo Ortiz and Victor Zarate.  Artist lecture and reception at 2 pm.

Glassworking Class at Arc + Flame Center of Rochester, Fri., Oct. 14
Have you ever wanted to create your own glass art?  Attend either a Glass Fusing Class to create a decorative plate by cutting and arranging flat pieces of cold, colored glass into a pattern or design or, attend a Glass Flameworking Sampler Class to create 2-3 glass projects such as a pendant, paperweight or small figurine.  No experience is necessary.  Fee $45 includes all materials.  Class time is 6–9 pm and is limited to 10 in each class, ages 14 and up.  

Brunch and Cooking Demonstration at Simply Crêpes, Sat., Oct. 15
Usher in fall by taking a ride to beautiful historic downtown Canandaigua and enjoy a delicious three-course brunch at Simply Crêpes.  During your two-hour “CrepExperience” you will learn how to make a basic crêpe and learn the history of crêpes from our hosts, MCC alumni Karen ’81, Pierre ’78 and Nicole Héroux.  Tickets are $50 and include a $25 donation in support of student scholarships at MCC.   11:30 am– 1:30 pm.
