Geosciences Students Help Community E-Recycle 24,000 Pounds of Electronics!

Through its e-recycling event on May 2, the Geosciences Association of Monroe Community College raised $1,457 for an upcoming field trip to Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky — surpassing its original goal by over 400 percent! By participating, the college community and the general public also properly disposed of old electronics with MCC and Maven Technologies, and saved approximately 24,000 pounds of electronics from going into local landfills!

MCC students David Brooks, president of the Geosciences Association, and Keith Bennett, vice-president, were interviewed by RNews Reporter Wendy Mills during an early morning segment on campus in order to get the word out to the community. News 10NBC also helped to promote the event.

So, save your electronics and e-recycle them at MCC next year!

The Geosciences Association is a student organization dedicated to earth sciences education and service. Through weekly meetings, field trips and community service, association members further their knowledge and the ideas and aims of the geosciences.
