MCC Foundation Participates in Core Group Effort

The Monroe Community College Foundation has been invited to participate in a Core Group Consortium designed to identify best practices in development for higher education.

The study is supported by the Think Tank for the Advancement of Community Colleges and incorporates data collected from approximately 50 private and public colleges and universities, including Carnegie Mellon, Columbia, Dartmouth, Duke Harvard, Johns Hopkins and others. MCC is one of six community colleges participating in this effort, along with Borough of Manhattan, Dallas County, Kirkwood, Northampton and Northwestern community colleges.

According to MCC Foundation President Brenda Babitz, founding participants in this effort realized the need to study best practices in development and to share data with fellow advancement officers on ways to enhance private sector support. “The consortium also provides professional development opportunities,” said Babitz. “The MCC Foundation Board of Directors is very involved.”

Participating colleges will retain access to a resource database on advancement and donor behavior and a “thought forum” following completion of the study.
