Two TRS Faculty Present, Seven Attend College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) Conference

Judi Salsburg Taylor and Renee Dimino co-presented, Navigating Change: A Shift To Integrated Reading And Writing,
with Dr. David C. Caverly of Texas State University.  The three described MCC’s redesign efforts to steer away from discrete developmental reading and writing courses toward an accelerated, integrated reading and writing (IRW) pedagogy.  Their session reviewed the IRW curricular and instructional design instituted in the TRS Program and an accompanying professional development model, Moving the Needle, along with research documenting this generational model’s subsequent impacts on students and faculty.

The team of seven faculty who attended the 47th annual CRLA Conference in St. Paul, Minnesota from November 5-8, 2014 are all participants in the theory based, two-year Moving the Needle research project.
