Former Rochester Mayor’s Talk Kicks off Black History Month at MCC


Former Mayor William Johnson spoke about the importance of education and how education affects minorities in today’s economic, cultural and political atmosphere to a crowd of about 80 students, staff and faculty members at the Damon City Campus on Wednesday, Feb. 4.

In his noon talk, titled “Black and Latino Men – Their Relation to Issues in Education, the Urban Workforce, Culture, Law and Enforcement,” Johnson encouraged students to look at events in life positively. His messages to students were to seize opportunities and overcome adversities in life.

The free event was sponsored by DCC Campus Center and the Doorway to Success initiative.
