“Making Smart Decisions to Improve Success in College and Life” Curriculum Guide Developed by Dr. Ann Topping

It is my pleasure to announce that Student Services staff members in community colleges now have an additional resource for their tool box to improve student success and retention by providing education on how to prevent a significant barrier - unplanned pregnancy.

A new curriculum guide, “Making Smart Decisions to Improve Success in College and Life,” was developed by Dr. Ann Topping, the Dean of Students at Damon City Campus.  The full curriculum guide has recently been posted live on the Web and may be downloaded at <https://www.thenationalcampaign.org/communitycolleges/makingsmartdecisions>.

This curriculum guide represents a partnership with the National Council on Student Development (NCSD) and the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy.  Dr. Topping is a current board member of the NCSD which is an affiliate council of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) and the only organization solely dedicated to serving the needs of student development professionals.

Dr. Topping and Andrea Kane, Senior Director of Policy and Partnerships of the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, released the guide during a presentation at the NCSD Conference at the University of Arkansas on October 25, 2010.
