Volunteers Needed for Academic Grievance Hearing Committee Pool

The College is in need of volunteers to serve in the pool for Academic Grievance Hearing committee members.

The Academic Grievance Policy is outlined in the Faculty Senate Resolutions and the College Catalog.

As detailed in the policy, each hearing committee requires the services of four full-time faculty members. The hearing rules require that the committee roles are filled by:

  • A Chairperson (a faculty member who has served on a hearing before)
  • One full-time teaching faculty within School managed by the Academic Dean who heard the grievance
  • One full-time teaching faculty from a School not managed by the Academic Dean who heard the grievance
  • One full-time faculty member from Student Services
  • Two students

When there is a need, you would receive an email asking about your availability and willingness to serve in a specific date and time range. Hearings typically take one hour.

WE ESPECIALLY NEED FACULTY FROM SCHOOLS OTHER THAN STEM AND FROM STUDENT SERVICES! That does not mean don't volunteer if you are STEM faculty! We'd love to have you too-- it is just that of our current list of volunteers, more than half are from STEM which makes meeting the requirements above a bit difficult.

If you are willing to serve in this capacity, or if you have additional questions, please contact Holly Wheeler at hwheeler@monroecc.edu.
