Clarke Presents at Scholars Conference on the Holocaust and the Churches

Charlie Clarke (Psychology)  presented “Lost Childhoods: A Dialogue between Child Survivors of the Holocaust and Sudanese Genocide” at the 37th Annual Scholars Conference on the Holocaust and the Churches at the Rosenthal Center for Judaic Studies at Case Western Reserve University on March 12.

The presentation provided Clarke the opportunity to share how the Holocaust Genocide Studies Project educates students and the community about the lessons of the Holocaust and also provides meaningful ways for people to take action to promote human rights. The “Lost Childhoods” program brought together 140 local high school students to witness and share a dialogue between Holocaust and Sudanese child survivors. According to Clarke, it was “something that had never been done before.” The current Water for Sudan fundraising project was another example cited.

The annual conference was founded in 1970 by Franklin Littell and Hubert Locke, two renowned scholars that have spoken at MCC as guests of Holocaust Genocide Studies Project leaders.
