Volunteer Month Spotlight: Rochester Oratorio Society

Celebrating its 60th year as our community’s premier large chorus, the Rochester Oratorio Society offers exceptional music experiences to Rochester audiences. Its over 180 singers -- including members of the MCC family -- perform choral masterworks from classical to contemporary periods.  In March, the ROS performed the world premiere of Psalm 150, a choral work written by the RPO’s Jeff Tyzik especially for the 60th anniversary season.

The Oratorio is one of the many independent cultural organizations in Rochester that rely on the dedication of volunteers and patron donors to grow and sustain excellence.

This fall, Maestro Eric Townell will assume the baton as music director following the retirement of Roger Wilhelm after 20 years. The transition marks the start of an exciting chapter for the Oratorio and bring opportunities to connect with new audiences and explore new partnerships with local and international performing groups.
