Human Books Event Coming to the Downtown Campus on April 18, 2018

Challenge stereotypes and prejudices by engaging with members of the MCC and greater Rochester community who will act as "Human Books" at the MCC Human Book Event to be held on the 2nd floor of the Downtown Campus (2nd floor) on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm.

MCC students, faculty, and staff will have the opportunity to borrow Human Books for 30-minute conversations, either one-on-one or in small groups.

Our Human Books include:

  • A Dreamer
  • A refugee who now assists other refugees
  • A person of short stature and educator
  • A Jamaican immigrant and educator with a story to tell about Jamaican cuisine
  • A gay man living with HIV
  • A bisexual, nonbinary LGBTQ advocate
  • One of five black librarians in the Monroe County Library System
  • A biker who is the local chapter president of Bikers Against Child Abuse
  • An artivist and poet
  • A restorative justice educator with a positive message
