On Sunday May 4th, 2008 MCC will walk for a cure for the 4th consecutive year to fight Multiple Sclerosis.
What is Multiple Sclerosis?
Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic, often disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system (CNS), which is made up of the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. The body’s own defense system attacks myelin, the fatty substance that surrounds and protects the nerve fibers in the CNS. The damaged myelin forms scar tissue (sclerosis) and when this sheath or nerve fiber is damaged or destroyed, nerve impulses traveling to and from the brain and spinal cord are distorted or interrupted, producing the variety of symptoms that can occur.

The walk will be held at Genesee Valley Park on Sunday May 4th. Registration begins at 9:30am and the walk at 10am which is anywhere from 1-5 miles (your choice).

Ø MS Walk Information Table – where you can sign up, purchase candy bars, or gather information about MS. This table will be in the Campus Center Atrium on Wednesday April 9th, 2008 from 12-1pm.
Ø MS Walk Silent Auction– where you can purchase donated items and 100% of your proceeds goes to combat MS. This auction will be held in the Campus Center Atrium on Thursday May 1st, 2008 from 11am– 2pm.
Ø Uno’s Fundraiser– With the attached coupon you can go to the Henrietta Uno’s for lunch or dinner on April 17th, 2008 and 20% of your bill will go to our cause. I hope to see you there!
Ø Candy bar sales – Please note that candy bars are for sale for $1 per bar in the Campus Events Office and Dental Clinic.
Ø MS Bands and Shoes – Please note that shoes and bands will be for sale in the Campus Events Office. The shoes are $1.00 and the bands are $2.00.
