Rev. Dr. Frederick D. Jefferson, Jr. Passes


I regret to inform you that retired adjunct Professor of English and Philosophy the Reverend Dr. Frederick D. Jefferson, Jr., passed away on July 2. Dr. Jefferson taught English, philosophy and history classes at MCC from 1976 through 1985.

Dr. Jefferson earned his Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of Chicago, his Th.M. from Harvard University, his B.D. from Yale University and his B.S.Ed. from Wilberforce University (Ohio). He was active in the Rochester community and will certainly be missed by the many organizations he supported and causes he championed.

Dr. Jefferson is survived by his wife, Ruby M. Jefferson; two sons, Frederick Douglass (Felicia) Jefferson III and Norman Mitchell (Sheila) Jefferson; one daughter, Janie (Bernard) Nnegi; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held earlier this month. Contributions in Dr. Jefferson’s memory may be made to Wilberforce University or Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Scholarship Fund, c/o Janie Nnegi, 166 Peaceable St., Ridgefield, CT, 06877.
