President's Wednesday Message

As spring classes draw to a close this week, MCC's end of year celebrations of our students' talents, accomplishments, and leadership continues. These events let our students shine, giving us the opportunity to applaud their success and giving them the chance to reflect on all they have achieved. Significantly, these celebrations also shine a spotlight on MCC's dedicated faculty and staff, who have inspired our students to work harder and aim higher than they ever thought possible.

Hopefully, over the past few weeks, you have attended the Jazz Festival, Sixth Act Playwriting Performances, or Student Art Show Opening Reception. Maybe you attended the Hospitality Pinning, Athletics Awards Dinner, or Writing Awards. Or, perhaps you cheered the Tribunes Women's Lacrosse team to its sixth consecutive NJCAA Championship or the students recognized at the Scholarship and Academic Awards Ceremony.

This week, you still have the chance to attend the annual Spring Vocal Concert (tonight), the TEAM/TPSID Graduate Recognition (Thursday), and the Student Engagement Awards (Friday).

The end of the month offers a series of graduation events leading up to MCC's Commencement on June 2: Dental pinning ceremony, Surgical Technology jacket ceremony plus one of the high points of this time of year, Honors Convocation. Following commencement, the Nursing pinning ceremony takes place on June 4. Each occasion provides a chance to reflect on the accomplishments of our remarkable students and to understand the often-challenging journeys they traveled to get to MCC and across the stage at commencement.

Your attendance at and support of these events means the world to our students: you helped them reach these milestones, complete their goals, and achieve excellence. They want to celebrate with you because you are at the heart of their success.

This is the very best time of year at MCC--each celebration is unique, each a truly extraordinary gift. It is an honor to join in the joy, laughter, and tears that these commemorations always bring. On behalf of our students and our College, thank you for making these wonderful days possible!

Share one of your favorite moments from these events--past or present--on the blog.
