Volleyball player Jessica Tucker (Honeoye Falls, NY/Billings) and men's soccer player Patrick Regna (Greece, NY/Greece Arcadia) were named NJCAA National Athletes of the Week after leading their respective teams to Region III titles over the weekend.
Tucker was named tournament Most Valuable Player as the Tribunes captured their first regional volleyball title. The outside hitter helped lead Monroe past Alfred State in the championship game. Tucker finished the tournament with 63 kills, 61 digs, 16 aces, and seven blocks. MCC will now advance to the NJCAA Division III nationals in Rochester, Minn.
Regna did a little of everything as the MCC men's soccer team defeated Bryant & Stratton on penalty kicks for the Region III, Division I title on Sunday. The sophomore goalie made four saves, including a big stop during the shootout, and then added the game-winning PK to lift the Tribunes to their 13th regional title. Regna was named Defensive Player of the Tournament.
