Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield Identification information

Excellus Blue Cross/Blue Shield has notified me that they are embarking on a multi-month conversion project to better protect personal identification information.  Beginning early 2005, they will begin converting employees’ ID numbers to a randomly generated unique alphanumeric identifier.

All members who currently use their Social Security numbers as their ID numbers will receive new ID cards that contain their unique alphanumeric identifier.

Members, who previously requested to receive random ID numbers that begin with 8 or 9, or end with two zeros, will also receive new ID cards that contain their unique alphanumeric identifier.

Until you receive your new ID card in the mail, please continue to use your current ID number and card when you seek services.
