Help is a Click Away with MCC Guardian

Since the safety of the College community is always a priority, Monroe Community College has recently launched MCC Guardian. Powered by RAVE, MCC Guardian transforms student and employee smartphones into personal safety devices.

MCC Guardian is compatible with Android or iPhone devices, works through any carrier, and can be easily downloaded through the App Store or Google Play onto your mobile device. Simply search for "Rave Guardian" and register using your MCC email address (an email address that ends in "monroecc.edu") in order to access the MCC specific version of the app.

The app provides a safety feature that directly connects you to MCC Public Safety Dispatchers (or 911 if off campus) in an emergency situation, as well as the ability to submit an anonymous tip to MCC Public Safety should you see something suspicious.

The app should only be utilized in areas within MCC Public Safety's jurisdiction, including MCC's Brighton Campus, Downtown Campus, Alice Holloway Young Commons (residence halls) and the Applied Technologies Center. Because MCC's Public Safety Training Facility is a unique Monroe County/City of Rochester-based resource for public safety, it is not within MCC Guardian jurisdiction. Calls placed outside MCC's jurisdiction will be redirected to the closest law enforcement or emergency authorities through 911.

By downloading the app on your mobile phone, you can also invite friends and family members to join your network as your "guardians." You can then request one or more of your guardians to virtually walk with you on or off campus. It's like having an emergency blue light phone system and a trusted friend with you at all times. All MCC students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to enhance their personal safety as well as the safety of their friends by downloading the free app.

If you have questions or if your department, group, or class would like to schedule a MCC Guardian training session, please contact Chuck DiSalvo of MCC's Department of Public Safety at ext. 2926 or cdisalvo@monroecc.edu.

For your convenience, please find attached a set of FAQs and a flyer.
