12 More Book Buddies Needed for “If All of Rochester Read…” Program

Writers & Books, Inc. in cooperation with the Visiting Scholars Series and the MCC English/Philosophy Department have chosen The Madonnas of Leningrad by Debra Dean as the 2012 “If All of Rochester Read the Same Book”… selection. Twenty-one MCC staff and faculty have volunteered to be Book Buddies to my Introduction to Literature class that has 33 people enrolled. To make this a memorable reading experience for MCC students, I need 12 more faculty and staff volunteers to be Book Buddies.

Once I have a Book Buddy for each of my students, I will e-mail my syllabus and send Reader’s Guides and posters to all faculty and staff enrolled in the program. The staff at the MCC Bookstore says that copies of The Madonnas of Leningrad will be available for purchase. Writers & Books also has copies for sale. My class will begin to read the book by the second week in March.

The Visiting Scholars Series will host a luncheon on Wednesday, March 28 at noon in the Flynn Campus Center Forum. MCC will host Debra Dean on Friday, March 30 at noon in the Warshof Conference Center, Flynn Campus Center (Monroe A and B).

Don’t hesitate to call (x3303) or send an email <mailto:epierce@monroecc.edu> with any questions. I look forward to working with you to provide this experience for our students.
