Nepal Earthquake Relief at MCC

Please join our MCC Nepalese students, Nepalese community members, and Rochester Refugee Resettlement Services in supporting the relief effort for the earthquake in Nepal. Members of the Nepalese and Bhutanese communities of Rochester will be in the Flynn Campus Center Atrium on Tuesday May 5th from 12-2 pm. There will be a moment of silence at noon, and a candle will be lit in remembrance of the victims. They will be sharing a display of photographs demonstrating the immense damages the country has suffered.  All cash donations and checks will be made to Rochester Refugee Resettlement Services, and computers will be available for online donations to reputable NGOs serving in Nepal.

A series of other events have also been planned in relation to the earthquake relief efforts:
  • Wednesday May 6th a donation table will be set-up outside of Building 5 with members of the Nepalese and Bhutanese community. Please drop by on your way to Spring Fling.
  • Thursday May 7th from 10-3pm, the Global Union and Muslim Student Association will be hosting a Henna Fundraiser Event upstairs in the Terrace. They will donate 90% of their proceeds to the American Red Cross Nepal Earthquake Fund.
  • Wednesday May 13th at 12 noon there will be a Walking Meditation in dedication to those lost in the earthquake. Members of MCC and the community can meet at the poetry garden outside in the quad of Building 4,6, & 12, and walk together in silent reflection to the Memorial Garden by the pond. In the event of rain, there will be a regular meditative sitting in Building 9 Room 102.
