I am saddened to inform you that Ruth Mathison, a retired professor in the Medical Records Technology Department, passed away on January 24.
Ms. Mathison joined MCC as an assistant professor and served for 13 years until her retirement in 1980. During her tenure, she organized the Medical Records Technology program and served as department chair. In 1975, she was awarded a World Health Organization fellowship to observe a medical records training program in England.
In addition, she was an active member of the Academic Governance Association and the Faculty Association, having served on numerous committees and task forces.
Upon her retirement, Ms. Mathison was accorded the rank of professor emeritus in recognition of her distinguished service.
