MCC Housing Fall 2015 - Helping Hands

We are fast approaching the start of another exciting academic year.  If you have not already, please consider being a part of our “Helping Hands” team for student move-in weekend, September 4th and September 6th.

Each fall our office welcomes 772 students into our residence halls and each year we reach out for “Helping Hands” team members. Team members include college community members to assist students with the move in process. Housing and Residential Life would greatly appreciate you and your office supporting our students move in on Friday September 4th, 2015, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. or Sunday, September 6th, from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

For many of our students this will be their first time living away from home, and for many of the families dropping their kids off this may be their first child attending college. I firmly believe that every professional on this campus does their best to be inviting, courteous and helpful to our students and their families. My hope is that during the move-in weekend we join together to make our students first day as residential students memorable, for all the right reasons.

By participating as a member of helping hands, and encouraging your staff to as well, you will gain more than a free T-shirt. You will have a chance to meet our newest students,  showing them that Monroe Community College cares and that we can be the support they need to succeed. My hope is that we gather enough volunteers that each building has a dedicated team of people to assist with moving items from cars to building, answering questions, and just being welcoming. This first day can set the tone for many of our students and their impression of MCC.

I hope you consider signing up for Helping Hands, and I also hope you encourage your fellow staff and department members to participate. I have opened the ability to register now for each of the times “Helping Hands” will be needed. You may sign up
here.

I will be sending out information to all persons registered on Friday August 28th including the various stations we will be covering.
