Passing of Retiree George Bahrenburg


The Monroe Community College community mourns the passing of retiree George Bahrenburg, 81, of Rush on Dec. 3.

Mr. Bahrenburg joined MCC in 1980 as a building maintenance supervisor in the Facilities Department, a position he held until his retirement in 1995. During his tenure, he briefly served as acting assistant director of Physical Plant.

Prior to coming to MCC, he operated his family’s bakery business for several years and later worked in construction and maintenance for 11 years for different employers, including Marriott Inn in Henrietta.

Mr. Bahrenburg is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty Jane; children, Ed (Dottie) Bahrenburg, Bill Bahrenburg, George G. (Sherry) Bahrenburg, Peggy (Ken) Donaldson, Kathy (Len) Rider, Beth (Scott) Smith; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

A memorial service was held Dec. 6 at Pinnacle Lutheran Church in Henrietta, followed by interment at Pine Hill Cemetery in Rush.
