Holocaust Survivor to Speak on Campus

MCC’s Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project invites you to hear the testimony of local Holocaust survivor Eva Abrams on Tuesday, November 1st at 3:30pm in the Brighton Room (3-217).  Born in Oradea, Romania in 1926, Eva was deported to Auschwitz at the age of 17.  Like many victims, she was subsequently forced on a death march but could not withstand its physical toll.  Standing before a firing squad, a machine gun inexplicably missed her and she was rescued by a German woman, who nursed her back to health.  Eva’s story is one of exceptional resilience, and her life is a testament to the courage of a witness who chose not to follow the easy path of the bystander.

Meeting and listening to a survivor is a singular experience – and it’s one that soon won’t be possible as we continue to lose survivors at an accelerating rate.  Join us and be inspired by Eva’s presentation and the discussion that follows.  This event is FREE and open to all MCC students, faculty, and staff.
