Soccer Team Hosts Educational Sessions


The Monroe Community College women’s soccer team will host educational sessions featuring two sport psychologists Dr. Elizabeth Kelly and Dr. Greg Shelley on Saturday, March 27, 2004 in MCC’s Forum on the Brighton Campus.

 
Dr. Elizabeth Kelly is a member of the Health and Physical Education Department at MCC. She has been in private practice for 23 years and consults with professional level athletes. Dr. Greg Shelley is an associate professor in the Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences at Ithaca College. He has 10 years of experience in the sports psychology field. In addition, Greg is the co-author of a performance psychology book, “Moving Toward your Potential: The Athlete’s Guide to Peak Performance.”   

 
Dr. Kelly will discuss “Psychological Skills: Training for Performance Enhancement” in the first morning session, from 9:00 - 10:30 am. Dr. Shelley will discuss “Effective Coaching Equals High Performing Teams” from 10:45 am - 12:15 pm. From 1:30 - 3:00 pm Dr. Shelley will hold a session specifically for parents of children who are involved in sports entitled “Facilitating Success: The Parents Role.”

The cost for both sessions is $65; $50 for morning session only and $25 for the afternoon session only. For more information or to register, please contact Tracey Britton at x2835.
