Michael Heel Provides Assessment Training at SUNY Plattsburgh

Michael Heel, MCC’s Coordinator of Academic Assessment and Program Review, travelled to the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh recently, to conduct two assessment training sessions to over 50 members of the faculty and administration.  Hosted by Plattsburgh’s Interim Provost, Patricia Higgins, and organized by Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, Stephen Light, the training sessions were offered to department chairs, assessment committee leaders, area deans and other administrators in support of the college’s upcoming preparations for a Middle States visit in 2012.

Michael was invited to design and lead two workshops, focused on curriculum mapping and alignment, to assist Plattsburgh’s assessment leaders in developing practical strategies for integrating assessment practices with curriculum design.  The focal program, “Curriculum Mapping and Effective Assessment,” was based upon a similar presentation that Michael delivered at the June 2010 SUNY Association for Institutional Research and Planning Officers (AIRPO) in Albany.
