Sardisco's Work Joins U of R Collection and Included in National American Art Exhibition


Karen Sardisco, assistant professor of fine arts, VaPA, has had two large-scale works purchased for the permanent collection of the Rush Rhees Library at the University of Rochester. The works, “Trapeze” and “Disclosure” have been installed in the newly renovated Gleason Library, a collaborative workspace created to enhance a research based environment in the arts, sciences and engineering. A “Meet and Greet the Artists” will be held on October 8th from 4:00-6:00pm in the Gleason Library located on the 1st floor of the Rush Rhees library. Sardisco’s work was also selected this year for the “51st Chautauqua National Exhibition of American Art” held from June 22-July 15th, 2008 at the Strohl Art Center, Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, NY.  Forty-nine works by 45 artists from 15 states were chosen from 394 pieces submitted. The juror for this year’s exhibition was Rachel Vancelette,  director of the Barbara Gladstone Gallery in New York City.
