Robert E. “Bob” Bierre, Administrative Affairs-Computer Services


The college was recently informed of the passing of Robert E. “Bob” Bierre, a retired assistant vice president of Administrative Affairs-Computer Services. Robert, of Webster, passed away on Nov. 14, 2008. A memorial service was held earlier this week. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Vivian; a son; a daughter; five grandchildren; and a sister.

Robert served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. One of his early achievements in the field of data processing was installing one of the first mainframe computers in the Buffalo area in the early 1960s. In 1964, he joined Monroe Community College as full-time faculty and held various administrative positions, including associate dean, dean of educational services and later dean of computer services. He retired from MCC in 1988 but continued to teach part time.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Highland Hospital Cancer Center, 1000 South Ave., Rochester, NY 14620.
