Renee Dimino to Serve as SUNY Guided Pathways Project Director

I am very pleased to announce that Renee Dimino has agreed to serve as SUNY Guided Pathways Project Director effective June 1, 2018.

Renee has been an active member of the TRS faculty since her full-time hire in 2009, serving and co-chairing departmental, divisional, and college wide committees. In addition to regularly utilizing high-impact practices, Renee co-led a Learning Communities Institute and served as Director for a High Impact Practices Institute. Additionally, she played an integral role in the TRS department's review and revision of Integrated Reading and Writing (IRW) courses. Renee was a co-principal investigator in the "Moving the Needle" research project that designed, implemented, and evaluated a mentoring program to support IRW faculty. She has presented at regional and national conferences and, with her colleagues, helped establish the Center for Academic Reading, which won the 2018 Innovation of the Year Award. Renee is driven about supporting students' transition to college, which is evident in her role as Adjunct Coordinator for College Success (COS) courses, and in her work revising an Open Educational Resource for COS.

In 2016, Renee stepped in to serve as Interim Dean of Academic Foundations. In her role as Interim Dean, she provided vision and leadership for Academic Support Services, college readiness partnerships, and pre-collegiate programs. She was also responsible for the ESOL/Transitional Studies (TRS) department, and she maintained several grants including Title III and Perkins.

Renee is passionate about guided pathways. In fact, she brought the idea of guided pathways to MCC through research she did for a committee reviewing her Division. She has been actively involved in the guided pathways project at MCC both in her faculty role and as Interim Dean of Academic Foundations.

Prof. Dimino completed a Certificate in Post-Secondary Reading and Learning from California State University, holds a M.S. in Education from the State University of New York at Brockport, and a B.S. in Special Education with a concentration in Human Development from the State University of New York at Geneseo.

Please join me in welcoming Renee to this new role.
