WIRED Grant Noted in NYC Newspaper

A former chief economist for the U.S. Department of Labor included MCC in her essay on Friday in "The New York Sun," referring to a federal WIRED grant received by the Finger Lakes Partnership, of which MCC is a partner. The Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development (WIRED) program granted the partnership $15 million last February to re-energize the area economy.

Writes Diana Furchtgott-Roth: "...the Department of Labor is addressing the decline of Eastman Kodak, Xerox, and Bausch & Lomb in upstate New York by investing $15 million in the Finger Lakes Partnership. Working with Monroe Community College, Finger Lakes Community College, and Genesee Community College, the project attempts to create an entrepreneurial culture focusing on optics, agriculture and food processing, advanced manufacturing, and biotechnology."
