Downtown Campus Parking - Open Forum Response

As committed to you during the open forum on December 13, I submitted many of your concerns to the parking team established to determine remedies for parking issues at the Downtown Campus. We invited Joel Frater, Executive Dean, and Tim McKnight, a student leader, to join us for the review and discussion.

In reviewing the feedback from the open forum, the team decided that many of your observations had merit and concurred on the following changes:

  • Designate Lot AA (on Morrie Silver Way) for parking by students, employees, and visitors on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Designate Lot BB (on State Street) as parking for employees only on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Designate Lot CC (formerly Lot D) as overflow from Lot AA for employees and students. Additionally, Lot CC will be the designated lot for event parking and partners.

Because of traffic patterns and the Rochester Police Department's requirements for parking during activities at Frontier Field, we have re-engaged Kodak and Carestream in conversations to reach agreement on entry and exit patterns for Lot CC.

Until an agreement is reached, please continue to park as you currently do. Those of you with the fob should continue to use it to enter Lot CC, however, you will not be ticketed for parking in Lot AA during intersession.

Our expectations are that the issues will all be resolved by the beginning of the Spring 2018 Semester and at that time, enforcement of parking rules will be significantly enhanced.

If you have any questions, please contact me at hsimmons@monrocc.edu or Joel Frater at jfrater@monroecc.edu.

Thank you and here's wishing you all a happy holiday.
