President's Wednesday Message

We’re at the midpoint of summer, which is when I start to sense that all the time I thought I would have, finally, to read that book or binge-watch that show or see that movie is running very, very short. The rush of fall is coming on … fast.

Some things I did get to: the painful and powerful “O.J. Simpson: Made in America”; the delightfully fizzy rewrite of Pride and Prejudice, Curtis Sittenfeld’s Eligible; a family reread (via audiobook on a road trip) of Emily St. John Mandel’s devastating yet hopeful Station Eleven; the endlessly fascinating Radiolab podcast on the Supreme Court, “More Perfect”; and—thanks to my son’s (and my son’s friends) insistence, three viewings of Captain America: Civil War. And the start of the Olympics is right around the corner waiting to fill every minute with sports my family only watches—obsessively--every four years.

So, what was your favorite book, tv show, movie, or podcast this summer? Is there something you can’t stop recommending? Is there a race or event in the Olympics that you can’t wait to watch? I hope you’ll share it in the comments section of the blog. With a little more than four weeks of summer left, there’s still time to squeeze it in!
