New Certificate Program Draws Media Attention

MCC is among 25 U.S. community colleges selected to offer the IT Support Professional Certificate program in partnership with Google starting in fall 2018.

The program at MCC aims to train learners with no previous experience in the field to be information technology (IT) support professionals in about five months through a blend of online and classroom instruction in the Economic and Workforce Development Center at MCC's Downtown Campus.

Upon program completion, graduates can share their information directly with up to 22 top employers seeking to hire, including Bank of America, Walmart, Sprint, GE Digital, TEKSystems and Google.

With over 150,000 open positions, IT support is one of the fastest-growing fields in the U.S. The median annual wage for computer user support specialists is $52,160.

Several media outlets -- including Spectrum News Rochester -- promoted the new program and partnership.
