Celebrate Alumni Week and Homecoming 2017!

MCC faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends are invited to participate in MCC's Alumni Week and Homecoming 2017 celebration hosted by the MCC Foundation. HIGHLIGHTS

Downtown Campus Spirit Day Celebration Mon., Oct. 2 - Downtown Campus tours will be offered at 9 and 10 am. Then the Office of Campus Life and SEGA invites students, faculty and staff to kick off Homecoming by wearing black and gold and participating in a group photo at 12:10 pm. Cake will be served following the photo in the 2nd Floor Lounge.

Fall Festival! Wed., Oct. 4 - Students, faculty and staff will delight in the sights, sounds and aromas surrounding the Homecoming Fall Festival from 11 am - 3 pm outside the MCC Theatre in Lot F. Sponsored by the Student Government Association, Campus Activities Board and Student Life fee.

Art Exhibit and Lecture Oct. 5 through Nov. 2 - An art exhibit will be held in the Mercer Gallery displaying the photographs and collected stories by Monica Jane Frisell, a photographer living and working out of a 1988 RV. On Homecoming Day, tours of the RV's dark room will be offered in Lot G and an artist lecture and reception will take place at 2 pm in the Gallery. This exhibit is made possible courtesy of Professor Kathy Farrell and MCC's VaPA department.

Spirit Day Faculty vs. Students Basketball Game at the Brighton Campus Fri., Oct. 6 - Wear black and gold and cheer on your favorite faculty members and our students as they go head to head in a basketball game on Monagan Court at noon. Come and cheer for your favorite player! Music provided by WMCC The Pulse.

Homecoming Day 5K/Tailgate Party/Tribunes Soccer Saturday morning, Oct. 7 - MCC's employees are leading the way by forming teams and seeking sponsorship. Check-in and registration opens at 9:30, the walk/run starts at 11 and the one-mile fun run starts at 11:10. Come early for Zumba warm up, rock-climbing wall, photo booth, chair massage, children's activities and more. Early registration fee (by Oct. 1) is $18, walk-in's are $25, students are $10. Teams must be formed and team members registered online by Oct. 1. Click here to register. Following the 5K, join us for the Tailgate Party in the gym (hot buffet lunch tickets are $8) and cheer on the MCC Tribunes as they face rivals in women's and men's soccer.

Glassworking Classes at Arc + Flame Center of Rochester Fri., Oct. 13 - Have you ever wanted to create your own glass art? Come try it out. Choose either glass fusing and create a holiday ornament or glass flameworking and create 2-3 glass projects that could include pendants, paperweights or small figurines from 6 - 9 pm.

MCC Night with the Rochester Rhinos Sat., Oct. 14 - Members of the MCC community may purchase premium-seating discount tickets for the, soccer match between the Rhinos and New York Bulls II and $5 from each ticket sold will be directed to the MCC Foundation. Kickoff is at 6:05 pm at Capelli Sport Stadium.

Blacksmith Class at Arc + Flame Center of Rochester Sun., Oct. 15 - Did you know smithing is one of the oldest metalworking occupations? Try your hand at blacksmithing and create a bottle opener, paperweight, pendant or tools. From 5 - 8 pm.

Crew Factory Fundraiser Wed., Oct. 18 - This shopping event is open to MCC alumni, students and employees. A portion of sales will be directed to the MCC Foundation. From 4 - 8 pm at Pittsford Plaza.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST

Brunch and Cooking Demonstration at Simply Crêpes - Sat., Oct. 21 - Take a drive to Historic Downtown Canandaigua for a special "CrepExperience" from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm. Enjoy a three-course brunch, prepared and served with the help of MCC Hospitality Program students, and a crêpe making demonstration by Simply Crêpes co-founder, MCC alum Pierre Héroux '78. Tickets include a $30 donation in support of student scholarships at MCC.
