Bone Marrow Registry Drive Success

On February 13, 2018, MCC's Health Information Technology Club (HIT Club) held our annual Be the Match bone marrow registry drive. Generous donations to this drive were given to the Be the Match organization that benefits those affected by unexpected diagnoses of blood cancers, such as leukemia and lymphoma.

Through the club's efforts 35 people from MCC were added to the registry and over $500 was raised for Be the Match. The HIT Club thanks everyone who volunteered, donated, and joined the registry!

The HIT Club wants to spread awareness of the need for bone marrow. Every 3 minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer. Many of these patients need a marrow transplant to survive, but don't have a matching marrow donor in their family so they turn to the Be the Match Registry to find a donor who can save their life.

To learn more about Be the Match and the process of joining the registry, please check out https://bethematch.org/ because it's never too late to support the cause!
