The Democracy Commitment Discussions

The Democracy Commitment at MCC, having received a NY Council for the Humanities Grant, lead a robust discussion of Danielle Allen's book Talking With Strangers on Tuesday, March 21st.  Over 30 faculty, staff, students, and community members joined Professors Dina Giovanelli (Sociology) and Joe Scanlon (Political Science) for a discussion of historical and contemporary issues impacting civic distrust.

We hope you can join the continued conversation on April 4th at the Damon Campus from 6:00-7:30 pm in room 5146.  The event is free and open to the public, copies of the book are available on reserve at both the Brighton and Damon Libraries.  Our next discussion will focus on chapters 5-7 of the text.  Light refreshments will be served.  For further information, please contact the TDC co-coordinators Dr. Joseph Scanlon (jscanlon1@monroecc.edu <mailto:jscanlon1@monroecc.edu> ) or Professor Dina Giovanelli (dgiovanelli@monroecc.edu <mailto:dgiovanelli@monroecc.edu> ).  RSVPs are not necessary.
