The Department of English and Philosophy is pleased to announce the winners of the 2002-2003 Writing Contests:

*Cloos-Susskind Poetry*

*Rice Essay*
Winner: Anne Morley,  “The Back Room”
Honorable Mention: Greg Fair, “On the Destructive Nature of Crime”

*Langlois Fiction*
Winner: Christopher Chester,  “Marooned”
Honorable Mention: Laurel DePaul, “The Birthmark”

*McMurry Philosophy*
Winner: Carolyn Marshall, “Terrorism”
Honorable Mention: Phyllis McEwen Griffith, “A Message to the Haves and Have Nots”

These students will be recognized at the English and Philosophy Department's Awards Tea in early May.  Many thanks to all the students who entered the contest, and to the instructors who encouraged them to do so.
