Two of our American Sign Language (ASL) Instructors, Michael Weingart and Rita Straubhaar will be giving presentations during Deaf Awareness Week.
Michael will be presenting “Signed Languages Around the World” on Tuesday, September 26 at 10 to 10:50 am at Monroe B at MCC.
Rita Straubhaar will be presenting “Yikes! There is a Deaf Student in My Class” on Thursday, September 28th at St. John Fisher College at 1:45 and again at 3:05 pm. It will be in the Campus Center, 2nd Floor, C.O.P. Conference Room.
Additionally, on Monday, September 25th. Channel 13 morning news program will broadcast a Deaf Awareness Week Segment which will start at 5:55 am and go until 6:45 am. It will feature Steven DeBottis as a guest Deaf News Anchor and Rita Straubhaar reviewing highlights for the Deaf Awareness Week. Sam Holcomb will be doing sign of the day and tips for communicating with deaf and hard of hearing people. Julie Aggas and family will be showing “A Day in the Life of a Deaf Family”.
All events are free and open to the public (unless otherwise noted). Also, all events are interpreted and are conducted in ASL.
