Book Discussion Series

MCC Libraries are very pleased to announce that they have been awarded a grant from the New York Council of the Humanities. The grant will fund a four-part book discussion series on the theme Rethinking Religion: Recent Women’s Novels and American Identity, to be held on campus in the fall. The dates and book titles are:

September 9, Paradise by Toni Morrison
October 7, Final Payments by Mary Gordon
November 18, Paradise Park by Allegra Goodman
December 9, Ceremony by Leslie Maromon Silko

All of the discussions will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 pm, and they will be facilitated by Dr. Barbara Lovenheim of the MCC English/Philosophy Department (retired). Further details will be announced as they are finalized.

RSVPs are required as space is limited. Please send an email indicating your desire to attend to<mailto:lannesi@monroecc.edu>. Please be aware that this is a themed book discussion program, so you are RSVPing for the complete series, although we recognize that not everyone can make every single meeting. After receiving your RSVP, we will confirm with information on how to obtain a copy of the first book.

If you have any questions please contact Lori Annesi at x2338 or <mailto:lannesi@monroecc.edu> or Debbie Mohr at x2316 or <mailto:dmohr@monroecc.edu.
