Looking for Volunteers for FAFSA Fest!

Looking for Volunteers for FAFSA Fest!

What is FAFSA Fest?
A series of free workshops during February break week designed to increase the completion of FAFSA in the Rochester City School District.  The events are sponsored by the Rochester College Access Network (RochesterCAN.org) in collaboration with MCC, WXXI, the mayor’s office, regional community agencies, businesses and foundations.

When is FAFSA Fest?
MCC will host one workshop on Wednesday February 18th from 2pm – 6pm at the Damon City Campus.

What types of volunteers do we need?
YOU!

We will have financial aid experts on hand but we need additional support for students and families as they complete the online form.  Volunteers will be in the computer labs to support our lead financial aid experts.  If you’ve completed your own taxes or filed a FAFSA form, you’re qualified.  In addition, you’ll receive an orientation and supporting materials.

We also need general volunteers to assist with registration, directions, food tables, children's activities, and check-out.

Did I mention it’s going to be FUN?  It’s a festival!  We will showcase the Damon City Campus and there will be a mini college fair, great food, scholarship information, and financial literacy support.  The highlight of our giveaways will be four MCC scholarships!

If you can spare two hours on February 18th, please send an email with your preferences to Melissa Burley at mburley@monroecc.edu <mailto:mburley@monroecc.edu>  before January 28th.

There will be free parking in the Mortimer Street Parking Garage.

Note: There is another FAFSA event at DCC on February 28th in collaboration with SUNY Financial Aid Day.
