Geosciences is pleased to offer a unique learning opportunity this spring and summer. GEO 195 100/101 – Field Studies in the Geosciences is a 4-credit natural science focused on the Grand Canyon and the American southwest. Beginning in March, a series of once-weekly meetings will prepare you for an 11-day trip in July where we’ll visit:
* Hoover Dam – a man-made wonder of the world
* Barringer Crater – a 40,000 year old meteor crater
*Sunset Crater – a 600 year old volcanic crater
* Red Rocks State Park– site of a massive thrust fault where the ground has moved at least 15 miles
* Grand Canyon National Park– six days on the Colorado River
The trip price ($3,460.00) includes round trip airfare from Rochester, ground transportation, lodging, meals while in the Grand Canyon, camping equipment while in the National Park, and trip insurance.
