Open up those 2003 Calendar and Save the Dates!


Two very special presentations are scheduled for the upcoming semester. Faculty members are encouraged to promote these opportunities for student learning.


Wednesday, March 5

Brighton Campus Theatre
Martin E.P. Seligman, best selling author and psychology professor at the University of Pennsylvania, will speak on his latest book Authentic Happiness. Seligman is a world-renowned lecturer whose work has been featured on the front page of the New York Times, Newsweek, Reader's Digest and many other well-known publications.

Seligman's appearance is being co-sponsored by MCC's Psychology Department, Liberal Arts Department, Phi Theta Kappa, and the Campus Activities Board (CAB) as part of the organization's Issues and Ideas series.

Robert D. Manning, is a prize-winning author, RIT professor and the founder and president of Newtonian Finances Ltd. His study "Credit Cards on Campus" received the 2000 Morris Rosenberg Award from the District of Columbia Sociology Society and his research has contributed to the national financial education movement. Manning is currently expanding his research on consumer credit/debt to include a national survey of college students. His noon presentation "Reality Bytes: Credit Cards on Campus" will address the issues of students and credit. During his evening presentation, geared for a general public audience, Manning will discuss how to get out of debt.

Manning's appearance is being co-sponsored by MCC's Business Administration Department, Counseling Department and Anthropology/History/Political Science/Sociology Department.

Free tickets for MCC faculty, staff and students will be available at the Student Center Desk. Tickets for non-MCC students are $3. Tickets for the general public are $5.
